Why you should order a Thyroid test.

A Thyroid test includes TSH, T4, and T3 in the human body. Linked to molecules, T3 and T4 in the blood is synced to protein molecules. The unbound T3 and T4 represents the bodys thyroid levels. Thyroid levels of free hormone act as the hormone present to react with receptors of cells in the body.

Below normal are thyroid levels in hypothyroidism. TSH thyroid levels are increased when the pituitary gland produces and releases more TSH than is needed. A Thyroid test is performed when blood TSH thyroid levels are low, often kept down to levlels below 0.01 mIU per L, hyperthyroidism occurs. Due to a six week blood to test result period, thyroid function or abnormal thyroid hormone levels may appear normal. Because of this, an FT4 and FT3 thyroid level needs to be analyzed.

T4 is primarily produced in the gland of the thyroid with only small amounts of T3. The liver produces the majority of T3 available in the body because of the of T4 to T3 conversion.
