Bay Leaves (2 nos.) Large Onion (peeled and chopped, 1 no.) Green Chilly Procedure Cut the fishe’s in about 4cm size. Rub it with turmeric and salt and set aside for 10-15 minutes.
Put the pan on the flame (medium is enough) and heat the oil. Put in the fish pieces until it appears a brown color on either side. Lift the fish out of the oil and put it on a plate and turn off the heat. Mix the ground coriander seeds, cumin seeds, ginger, turmeric, chili and necessary salt in a small bowl. Add about 3 tbsp of water and mix it well. Put the rest of oil in the frying pan and heat it over a medium flame. Now add Kalonji and after a few seconds later, put in the red chilies. Wait until they get darken (a bit), put in the bay leaves.
When the bay leaves start to darken, put in the onion, stir and fry the onion at low heat. Then add the spice paste. Stir gently and fry it for about 1 minute. Finally put in the fish in the pan along with 1 cup of water. Lay the green chilies over the fish for some decoration. Simmer for 2 minutes over a medium heat. Pour some sauce over the fish pieces, cover it and cook the fish for 10-15 minutes. The delicious Fish fry is ready. Serve it under medium heat.
