Some time ago, I was the working mom, with a great family, nice house, and a good job. That was twenty years ago. All that’s left is me, my kids have grown up and have lives of their own and my husband has since passed.
I’m a retired schoolteacher with twenty seven years of teaching, and I can still remember every single year, and that one child in each class that I had such an impact on. Every week I run into a former student whether it’s at the grocery store or the restaurant.
My other lifelong passion is a hobby that I tend to every summer is gardening. The biggest benefit to being a teacher is having the summers off, believe me, we enjoyed it just as much as the kids.
Now, my house doesn’t have a very big yard, but what it does have is enough room for me to plant quite a few rows of vegetable and other plants. Every morning, I slip on my Muck Boots Garden Shoes and head out to take inventory. There are not too many things that give me as much joy as seeing the progress of a growing plant. Naturally my kids are my biggest accomplishment in life, but this does come close.
