A hot tub is a great piece of equipment that it can be used whether in hot or cold weather. Kept in the shade, and with a trellis around it, the hot tub is a niche of relaxation where the only thing to do is to relax and enjoy the hot water.

However, with the cost of gas nowadays, keeping the water from freezing is a real bother in winter. It is still necessary to keep it warm and covered till it’s ready for use. Besides keeping the heating on, another standard equipment is a heavy duty hot tub cover. Hot tubs do not really come with covers and this is not an error, but a reality borne from the fact that a lot of hot tubs are home-made. Because of this, a lot of hot tubs are of specialized design.

Hot tub covers come in different specifications. Most spa hot tub covers are made with an insulating layer. But what’s imperative is that the cover has to keep as close as possible to the water, in order not to produce any condensation.

Another criteria is the weight of the cover. The thicker it is, the more effort it is to open the tub. Winter weather might also damage the cover. During heavy snow, the cover might sag in the middle due to the weight. In some cases the combination of cold weather and the hot water have made the cover brittle leading to a damaged hot tub cover.

To have a great time with the hot tub, it’s a good idea to have a durable cover.
